Marriage Prep and Meal tasting!

The last week for us, had been busy on the wedding front, from marriage preparation to menu tasting and sending the first batch of invites out! Super exciting!

So first thing is if you’re having a church wedding do you have marriage preparation? We were so dubious about this to start with as we’ve been together nearly 10years, nothings going to change but my name. However this was a great day for us focusing on after that “one” wedding day and focusing on our marriage together. It really does make you think. We learnt a lot, from new ways of talking with each other, financial management to family relationships.

They let thing to take forward was about learning to listen and communicate effectively!

After a great day learning lots of new things and meeting some awesome couples we then got onto trying our menus! Yummmm! If I’m honest we didn’t know what to expect at all. The hotels restaurant where we are getting married has 3 Rosettes and won they best hotel restaurant award last year!! So being foodies we were keen to see what it was all about, and it did not let us down, the service was great and the food was delicious!

As you can imagine after all that food, we walked out about a stone heavier! But in such excitement for our big day!

Did you have a meal tasting? How was it?

DIY Brides

Hey

It’s that time of the week again, wedding Wednesday. This week I want to talk about all the things that are super easy to make your self to help save a few pennies…

Being in the design industry and starting off my wedding planning journey I knew stationary wise this was something I was going to do myself. (So far I’ve made save the dates and invites) I’m not going to lie, you need to be super organised and have some time to play with, or a great group of friends to help you out as ours took a good while! (Get some prosecco in and make an evening of it) Alternatively you can get pre-made templates on Etsy that you can edit and print which look just as good!

I bought all the materials on eBay to make these and had a stamp made with our names on. Which has been used on just about everything so far to personalise our wedding stationary in a unique way!

The other thing I have been making is for the table, some cute custom tea light jam jars all wrapped in cute string and lace. These are super easy and cheap. Jars, any size, I’ve just collected mine and asked family to collect them too. Lace and twine from eBay, you can get some really nice stuff on there, and wrapped around a jar with a candle in, looks really special.

I hope these bits that can help cut costs help, as I continue my journey, I’ll post about more things brides can DIY

Also any brides out there any DIY tips, I’d love to here them!

New Year New #WeddingWednesday

Hey,

Here’s to 2018, the year I get to have my special day, and 1 year since I got engaged! WOW time really has flown by. Huge congratulations to all the Happy couples out there who got engaged over the festive period! It’s such an exciting time. – I hope you enjoy the journey as much as I am and you find these posts useful.

Today I want to talk save the dates, when should these be sent out? Who should I send them to?

We gave all our save the dates out last year, mostly (because we had time on our side) we handed them to people in person, I was so excited we started handing them out around May last year, around 18 months before the wedding. Coming from a design background myself and my MOH hand made our save the dates, I had such fun doing it! (See picture below).

Now in my excitement and naivety I thought it would help, however now with less than a year to go we both keep getting asked to remind people of the date. So I guess my top tip on your save the dates would be to send them out at 1 year to go. That way it builds excitement and it’s easier for people to remember the date a year in advance.

There is no strict rule when it comes to save the dates, who should they be sent to etc. I recently saw a great idea in a wedding feed, sending save the date and save the evening cards. The choice is however yours! – please comment and let me know your thoughts on save the dates! I’m a real bride and only go on my own experiences!

Hello January

Well Christmas and New year Flew by didn’t it just? As most of you probably know from my Social Media Sites I was lucky enough to have got engaged! So January for me so far has been pedal to the metal organising and planning, who knew you had to book a venue and service like 2 years in advance? Crazy! but so Exciting
So much for my quiet January this year…

So as you do in January January, I have set myself a few blogging goals this year, which I wanted to share with you all to get me started!

Goal 1: Blog fortnightly! – no more hit and miss blog posts once every 2 Months! I am aiming for consistency.. (lets face it I am going to need a break from all this planning)

Goal 2: Be more socially active. This means “hello…I’ll be popping up in blogger chats on twitter”

Goal 3: Grow my online following by 10% – I’m hoping this will come from more consistent blog posts and increasing my engagement going to blogger chats. (fingers crossed)

So that’s me! What are your goals this year?

Going to ride my bike until I get home…

BobbinThis week has been so busy for me (hence only getting up one post. Sorry!) I went to my first ever silent disco – yes it was amazing, and from videos I now know my singing skills aren’t quite what I thought the were… I also brought a bike so that I can start riding my bike to work, rather than getting the tube. It has knackered me out however I absolutely love it. Lots of fresh air and a great way to start and end the day! Here she is (seen on the left) … name suggestions anyone?

I was very worried on my first day of cycling that it was going to be very dangerous, however with plenty of cycle lanes I have loved every minute of it especially when I am going through the parks! I do also have a helmet and lots of high-Vis and I think this helps feeling safe!

As an extra to my bike I have just brought this bag! Can’t wait to review it when it arrives. It simply fits onto the back of the bike!

Here’s to week 2! Do any of you cycle to work? Have you got any tips?

Lambeth Country Show

Well hasn’t the weekend just flown by? What a busy one it has been too. This weekend Josh and I got the chance to spend a few hours exploring the Lambeth Country show, and what fun it was. There was so much to see, from Vegetable and Cake competitions to Owls and then some great live music! The show was at Brockwell Park right by Herne Hill Station so very easily accessible, and it’s free. Everyone at the festival was in great spirits and the music and activities really brought it alive. My favourite band were a brass band playing modern songs, they had a great crowd in front of them dancing too!

It is a must if you didn’t get the chance to go this year!

Here are a few pictures…

Long time..no speak

It’s been a while since I wrote my last blog post, these past few weeks, months even, have been jam packed with activities.

Here are some of the things I have been upto and exploring and things I really recommend to add to that bucket list;

glastonbury

1. GLASTONBURY

This contemporary arts festival is one of a kind and is really out of this world, this is my second glastonbury and I can’t recommend enough everyone trying to get tickets (I know it’s hard). There is always something to see or do, no matter what time of night or day…

Here’s a cheeky snap of me in fancy dress one night with some of the glastonbury lights behind me

2. BEACH DAY IN BOURNEMOUTH

With such beautiful English weather, I took the opportunity to head down to Bournemouth to see my family and enjoy a beautiful day on the beach, starting off with some piña coladas with my mum on the pier and ending up in the sea with my little brother the day could not have been any more perfect! If you get the chance to enjoy some of the gorgeous weather down there and love a cocktail, definitely head to Aruba for stunning views and delicious cocktails

3. SCAVENGER HUNT

This is something I have done this weekend, so much fun and a must if you get the opportunity. Khrissie, our ‘Sergeant’ for the day was invited to take part in a scavenger hunt organised by Contiki holidays. Khrissie then recruited myself and 5 others to be part of ‘The Southern Soldiers’ . Being given clues to places around London we set off to get our photos taken with as many of these clues as possible. It was a great laugh and we got to discover so much that we would have never known about had we not done the hunt! Unfortunately we didn’t win but we had so much fun in the process the winning for me was the taking part.

And last but not least…

4. RUNNING

With the tube strikes last week, it was time to get my running trainers on again after a busy few weeks. Out came the trainers as I took to the streets of London on foot to beat the traffic. It’s a great way to see London, travel around London and enjoy the sunshine.

While the weathers still nice, get out there and explore, the world is your oyster!

Fun and free

Today I booked to go the sky garden in London, I can’t recommend it enough especially if you like heights and an amazing view of London! The garden isn’t that impressive but it’s definitely worth a free visit for the view! You can book your tickets here – Sky Garden

With such great views its the perfect opportunity for a photo and the perfect time to sit back relax and grab a coffee with a view!

 enjoy and get booking…
